PONTIAC, MI – On Saturday April 27th, 2019, at 3:30AM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Nightriders Motorcycle Club located in the 300 block of Raeburn Street on the report of gunshots being fired.
While responding to the scene, Dispatch advised that there was a gunshot victim at the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies found several subjects fleeing the establishment. When Deputies entered the building, they were met by members of the motorcycle club who indicated that there was a victim on the floor inside of the men’s restroom.
Deputies were advised that the suspect, a 42-year-old man, of Pontiac, was being detained in another room by other members of the motorcycle club. Deputies located the suspect and took him into custody. The firearm that had allegedly been used by the suspect was recovered nearby.
Deputies located the victim, a 41-year-old man, of Pontiac, lying on the men’s room floor. Several spent shell casings were found on the restroom floor. The man was obviously deceased and beyond help. Paramedics who responded to the scene provided telemetry to McLaren-Oakland Hospital where a physician pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Deputies established a perimeter and requested to have Detectives respond to the scene. Deputies canvassed the scene for witnesses.
Deputies located a second victim, a 37-year-old man, of Pontiac, in the parking lot who had suffered two gunshots to his left arm. He was transported by paramedics to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition. Detectives conducted interviews and continued with the investigation.
The OCSO Forensic Science Lab responded to process the scene. The suspect was transported to the Pontiac Substation to speak with Detectives. He was later lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges
The incident remains under investigation. This is the first homicide of the year in Pontiac.
