GRAND RAPIDS, Mi – Police in Grand Rapids are investigating a possible homicide after a 21-year-old man with gun shot wounds was dropped off at a hospital and dies.
Early this morning, Sunday May 12th, 2019, at approximately 2:39 a.m., Grand Rapids Police responded to a report of the sound of shots fired in the 500 block of Highland St. SE. A few minutes later a victim with serious injuries arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital by private transport. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Officers located a possible scene in the 500 block of Highland St. SE. The scene was processed by the Grand Rapids Police Forensics Unit.
The victim is a 21-year old man from Grand Rapids. His identity is being withheld pending notification to family members. A final determination as to the cause and manner of death will be made through the Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday, May 13th, 2019. The Grand Rapids Police Department Detectives are investigating and is treating the death as a homicide.
