On Thursday May 23rd, 2019, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Midland Drive and Michigan Avenue on the report of a shooting. Responding Deputies were advised that a person who was in a silver Chevrolet Equinox in the driveway of a residence on Midland Drive had been shot.
Upon arrival, Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate either the silver Chevrolet Equinox or the victim. The caller met with Deputies and it was ascertained that the shooting had taken place in the 40 block of Midland Drive. The complainant received this information from a witness who had been at the scene at the time of the shooting however, the witness had fled the area prior to calling the complainant.
Deputies contacted the homeowner where the alleged shooting had occurred. The homeowner was not at home during the incident but was able to provide Deputies with the information regarding who owned the silver Chevrolet Equinox. Deputies secured the scene and located a spent shell casing lying on the driveway.
Deputies responded to another address in the 800 block of Palmer Street and located the silver Chevrolet Equinox parked in the driveway of the residence. Deputies attempted to contact the homeowner of the residence but with negative results. Deputies observed a large quantity of blood throughout the interior of the vehicle. It appeared to Deputies that someone had attempted to clean the blood from the vehicle’s interior.
Deputies entered the home where the silver Chevrolet Equinox had been parked to search inside of the residence for a victim. Deputies searched the inside of the home for a victim but with negative results. Deputies secured the home and the Chevrolet Equinox. Deputies began to canvas the area for possible witnesses.
Deputies secured both scenes for Detectives. Deputies transported witnesses to the Pontiac Substation to speak with Detectives. An Evidence Technician responded to process both scenes. Detectives obtained information regarding a possible suspect. A suspect was located and was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect, a 46-year-old man from Pontiac, was transported to the Pontiac Substation to speak with Detectives. The suspect was later transported to the Oakland County Jail where he was lodged on unrelated criminal charges.
The Chevrolet Equinox was impounded and held for evidence at the Pontiac Substation. Detectives are continuing with the investigation. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and at this time Detectives have not located the victim in this incident.
