ALLEN TOWNSHIP, MI – Troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson Post were dispatched to a residence in Allen Township for a threats complaint involving a gun.
A 24-year-old man from Pioneer, OH, threatened to shoot his girlfriend, friends, and himself with his handgun that the victim advised he is known to carry. The suspect had left the scene prior to Troopers arrival, but later attempted to return to the residence while Troopers were investigating.
Upon seeing the investigating Troopers, the suspect attempted to leave. As Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle, the suspect fled. The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department was able to deploy stop sticks, disabling the vehicle. The suspect was found dead inside the vehicle of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Troopers were assisted by members of Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department, Hillsdale City Police Department, and Reading Emergency Medical personnel.
