DETROIT, MI – Police were kept busy going in multiple directions across the city Saturday evening as calls were coming in and being dispatched to multiple shots fired calls. Three known people lost their lives to the gun violence.
A 38-year-old man was shot and killed on Detroit’s east side on Saturday June 8th, 2019, in the 9000 block of Chalmers in what is being described as a shootout.
A member of the group Metro DETROIT Crime & Homicide stated that the person was a light skinned man with a dark gray Buick. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 PM.
The victim did not survive his injuries after being transported to a local area hospital.
The gunman fled on foot. No arrests have been made at this time in this incident.
Another shooting scene was reported to be at Rossiter & Yorkshire. This was a non-fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man. At 1:20AM officers were being sent back to Rossiter & Yorkshire for more gunshots being fired. Officers were being advised to use caution. Rossiter & Yorkshire near Nottigham became a Priority 1 call where officers at the scene were requesting more officers to respond. They were trying to track those with weapons who fled on foot.
A second fatal shooting scene was on McNichols. Evidence techs were being called to process the scene at 1:45AM. Two men were shot near Lesure & McNichols at approximately 11:00PM. This was originally a non-fatal shooting that turned fatal after one of the victims died at about 12:30AM on June 9th, 2019.
At 2:15AM Detroit Police and medics raced to a shooting scene near Legends Gentlemen’s Club on Congress St in downtown Detroit. Officers called for multiple medics to be sent to the scene. One gunshot victim was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital in a White Dodge Ram. Another vehicle, a black pickup truck, sped away from the scene with another shooting victim inside.
One person was reported to be Dead on Scene at 2:45AM. The 48-year-old man opened fire outside of the club where he shot a man in the leg. That man also had a weapon. He returned gunfire hitting the 48-year-old at least 6 times. A female victim was shot and is listed in temporary serious condition. The third victim, a man, is listed in temporary serious condition.
No arrests have been made in this incident.
