MARTIN, MI – Last night, Saturday June 15th, 2019, at approximately 7:00pm, Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the Martin area.
Investigating deputies were able to learn information about the suspect and took a report concerning the stolen property. Later in the evening, this suspect abandoned that vehicle and stole another vehicle from the Wayland area. The suspect crashed this second vehicle in the Hopkins area. Deputies attempted a K-9 track however they were unsuccessful in locating the individual.
The suspects crimes would continue on and escalate in Sunday morning. At about 7:00am, the suspect car-jacked another vehicle while armed with an assault rifle. The suspect was reported to be in the area of 128th Avenue and 56th Street in Manlius Township which is located in the northwest part of Allegan County. Deputies raced to another incident involving the same suspect who was reported to be shooting at houses.
The suspect entered a home and held the occupants at gun point while he attempted to steal yet another vehicle. Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies confronted the suspect as he was attempting to leave the residence in their vehicle. The suspect refused to obey commands and was heading back to the house when deputies engaged him with gunfire. The suspect was injured and transported to the hospital with injuries.
No deputes were injured.
At this time, information is preliminary as the investigation is underway.
