DETROIT, MI – Andre Lamont Cockerham, Jr., 24-years-old, of Detroit, faced a judge today to be arraigned on criminal charges in connection with the fatal beating of Andre Buford, Sr., 44-years-old, also of Detroit.
On November 3rd, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the 16900 block of Carlisle Street. Upon arrival, the officers found Andre Buford’s lifeless body inside the residence. Medics arrived and pronounced the him dead at the scene.
It is alleged that Andre Cockerham fatally beat Andre Buford and robbed him. The investigation by the Detroit police led to the arrest of Cockerham. Further facts and evidence will be presented at the Preliminary Examination.
Andre Cockerham has been charged with First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery and Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile.
He was arraigned and remanded to jail this morning before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 3, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 10, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both Hearings are before Judge Lynise Bryant.
