Former Girlfriend Sets Pontiac Man’s Belongings on Fire

PONTIAC, MI – She was mad and bitter about it. He was doing the right thing by defusing the situation and was preparing to move out of the house they shared together. The former girlfriend made sure that his moving out would not be as easy as he had thought.Victim Identified in Fatal House fire

On Thursday June 20, 2019, at about 5:40AM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the 100 block of W Rundell St. on a report of a fire on the sidewalk near that address.

Upon arrival, Deputies observed what turned out to be the victim’s property on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. Deputies spoke to the 53-year-old man who stated that the property consisted of his personal clothing inside of a plastic bin.

He stated that he and his now former 49-year-old girlfriend had gotten into an argument. As a result, he began packing his belongs in preparation of moving out of their home. He left the clothing in the plastic bin on the front porch. He went back into the house to pack more of his belongings. While inside the home packing the rest of his property, his girlfriend and her 33-year-old friend left the residence. That is when he noticed the plastic bin containing his clothing on the sidewalk on fire.

The OCSO Fire Investigation Unit was contacted and responded to the scene. Deputies were unable to locate the suspects. This incident remains under investigation by the OCSO Fire Investigation Unit.
