PONTIAC, MI – It is rare that anything good can come from the darkest of night and that’s what an innocent man found out while walking alone at about 1:45AM on Thursday June 20th, 2019, when he was shot by two unknown gunmen.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 100 block of Hibbard Ct. on a report of a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, Deputies located the 44-year-old man in the front yard of a home. The victim stated that he had been shot approximately 45 minutes prior to officers arrival somewhere near State. St. or Huron St.
Two unknown men approached the victim while he was walking and demanded his belongings. When the victim refused, the suspects produced a weapon and began to shoot at the him. The victim threw his wallet in the direction of the suspects as he fled on foot. The victim entered the woods and became disoriented before knocking on the door of the caller’s home. The caller stated that he did not know the victim and that he let the wounded man use his phone to call 9-1-1.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to begin their investigation. An evidence tech responded to collect evidence. The victim was not able to provide any description of the suspects. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen and left wrist. He was treated and released from McLaren Oakland Hospital.
