Allegan County Investigation locates Evidence Pointing to Sex and Drug Crimes

WAYLAND, MI – Police in Wayland believe that they have found evidence that points to sex and drug crimes.

Wayland is located south of Grand Rapids off of US-131.

At approximately 7:00pm on July 1st, 2019, the Wayland Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant in the 600 block of East Maple St. located in the City of Wayland.

The warrant was served to obtain evidence of suspected sex trafficking ring, and drug crimes. A Wayland Police investigation has been going on since October 2018. The investigation then began gathering evidence back to 2017.

As evidence of suspected crimes was collected, the MSP and the FBI were brought in to assist with the investigation. The search warrant is not the end of the investigation, as numerous other leads have been generated relative to the seized evidence. Officers seized suspected drug paraphernalia, and suspected drugs believed to be cocaine and heroin.

Numerous electronic devices were seized, which contain suspected evidence of drug and sex crime violations, as well as information on additional potential suspects. These electronic devices will be sent to the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit for examination. The investigation is still on going and charges are pending.

The Wayland Police would like to thank the MSP, the FBI, and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
