CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – On Wednesday July 3rd, 2019, at about 3:10AM, after an extensive search in and near Budd Park in Clinton Township, the suspect is who is believed to have fired a gun, was safely taken in custody.
On July 2nd, 2019, at approximately 6:00PM, the Clinton Township Police received information that a distraught person was in Budd Park armed with a rifle. Shortly after this information responding officers confirmed that the person was in the park and had discharged one round from the rifle. The discharged round stuck a vehicle in the park that was occupied by a a man. He was the only person inside of the vehicle.
Responding officers contained the area until additional resources from various agencies arrived. Resources such as drones and a helicopter were used attempting to locate the suspect. At approximately 0310 am the suspect was located and taken into custody. Budd Park remains closed while Officers and Detectives finish collecting evidence.
The Clinton Township Police would like to thank all the additional assistance received from the Michigan State Police, Macomb County Sheriff Department, US Coast Guard, United States Secret Service while attempting to contain the area and locate the suspect.
