Livonia Woman Dies after Single Vehicle Crash in Monroe County

MONROE TOWNSHIP, MI – At approximately 10:26 am today, Saturday July 6th, 2019, troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to a one-vehicle injury crash on Southbound I-75 near Mile Marker 9. fatal-crash

A Chrysler Town & Country minivan occupied by seven people was traveling south on Southbound I-75. The minivan sustained an abrupt flat tire which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the center guardrail. A passenger of the minivan, a 51-year-old woman out of Livonia, was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo due to her injuries sustained during the crash.

The 51-year-old Livonia woman later died at St. Vincent Medical Center due to her injuries.

None of the other passengers in the vehicle, to include an 18-month-old infant, sustained life-threatening injuries.

Troopers were assisted by personnel from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe Township Fire Department, and the Monroe Community Ambulance. Southbound I-75 was closed for a short period of time while the Michigan State Police investigated the scene.

The victim’s name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
