Wisconsin Motorcyclist Killed in Mason County Crash

SCOTTVILLE, MI – On Saturday July 13th, 2019, at 1:04 PM, deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash on US10 near the US31 bypass just west of the City of Scottville.Fatal Motorcycle

The preliminary investigation indicated a motorcyclist was eastbound on US10 with a group of fellow riders, when he missed the N. US31 bypass. The driver of that motorcycle, who been identified as Douglas Fleischfresser, 58-years-old, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, pulled to the side of the highway and attempted a “U” when turn, but did so into the path of an eastbound pickup truck, which struck the motorcyclist broadside.

Mr. Fleischfresser was pronounced dead at the scene. His family was notified by the Oshkosh Police Department of the accident.

The driver of the pickup truck has been identified as Melissa Roe, 50-years-old, of Fennville.

Neither alcohol nor speed appear to have played a role in the crash and the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

Assisting at the scene was the Michigan State Police—Hart Post, Scottville Police Department, Michigan DNR-Law Enforcement, Scottville and Custer FD and  Mason Life EMS.
