ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – A 21-year-old Rochester Hills man lost his life to a suspected Heroin overdose on Sunday July 21st, 2019. Another victim of the Opioid Crisis.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the City of Rochester Hills Fire Department responded to Roanoke Lane on the report of an unresponsive subject who was not breathing. The victim’s friend went to check on him after he did not answer the door. The friend entered the residence and found the victim unresponsive and slumped over on the bedroom floor.
Deputies and Paramedics from the Rochester Hills Fire Department entered the residence and found the victim obviously deceased. Paramedics transmitted telemetry to Ascension-Providence Hospital Rochester where a physician pronounced the victim deceased. The victim was found clutching a syringe in his left hand that contained suspected heroin.
A Detective with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and an Investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to begin with their investigations. An autopsy has been scheduled. Detectives are continuing with the investigation.
The Centers for Disease Control announced last week that the number of opioid overdose deaths dropped by nearly 2% in 2018.
Overall drug overdose deaths fell by 5.1%, marking the first nationwide decline since 1990.
