DEARBORN, MI – In the late evening hours of June 8, 2019, officers responded to the 2000 block of N. Waverly on a 911 call that a woman had been shot.
Officers responded and detained a man outside of the residence. A response team entered the home and located the victim, a 31-year-old woman.
She stated that she and the 64-year-old man were arguing and he shot her in the upper arm. The man was identified as David Saunder, the subject who was speaking with officers outside of the home.
Once the scene was secured, detectives responded and executed a search warrant on the home. Inside, officers located the pistol used in the assault as well as numerous other firearms and possible bomb making materials. The Dearborn Bomb Squad responded and secured any hazardous materials. The other firearms were then seized.
The female victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms was notified and will be making a determination if additional federal charges may be levied against Saunder for the explosive materials.
David Saunder was arraigned in front of the Honorable Judge Hunt of the 19th District Court. Bond was set at $500,000/10%. Saunder waived his preliminary exam and was arrested by the ATF.
