HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Pedestrian Injury Accident in the 100 block of N. Milford Rd. on July 18th, 2109.
At 2:53PM there had been two pedestrians that were crossing N. Milford Rd together. The pedestrians, a 35-year old woman and a 79-year-old woman, both of Highland Township, were crossing from the east side of the road to the west side of the road, when both pedestrians were struck by a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling southbound on N. Milford Rd.
A 54-year-old man, of Howell, the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox stopped on the roadway after striking the two pedestrians. A physician from a local doctor’s office and Paramedics from the Highland Township Fire Department administered medical attention to the pedestrians.
The first pedestrian was a 35-year-old female who was treated at the scene and refused to be transported to the hospital. The second pedestrian was a 79-year-old woman who was found to be unconscious and appeared to have sustained a serious head injury. Paramedics from Star EMS transported the victim to Providence Medical Center in the City of Novi for further examination. Deputies at the scene requested the OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit to assist them with the crash investigation.
An Investigator from the OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to assist in the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash. The driver of the Equinox was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The pedestrians were not utilizing a lined crosswalk at the time of the crash. The pedestrian is currently listed in critical condition.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit was contacted on Tuesday July 30th by family members of the pedestrians that were struck on North Milford Road near Livingston Road in Highland Township on July 18, 2019. The family called to advise that the 79 year old woman died from her injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
