Suspect Lies to Senior Citizens to Obtain their Identification

DETROIT, MI – An unknown suspect recently entered an apartment building and began knocking on doors. Those that answered their doors were told by the very bold and brazen suspect that he was with Social Security Office and that he needed their identification and in some cases in more than one way.1000 block of leland

The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection with fraudulent activity that took place on the city’s west side.

On Thursday, July 25th, 2019, in the 1000 block of Leland St., an unknown male suspect walked into the Friendship Meadows Senior Apartments and began knocking on doors stating that he was from the Social Security Office. The suspect asked residents for personal information such as Social Security number, Medicaid Card and phone numbers. It is also reported that the suspect requested a DNA Swab from the victims.

The suspect fled the building and left the area in a Blue Lincoln Navigator in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a black male, 25 yrs. old, dark complexion, 5ft 8 to 6 feet, slim build, and possibly from the Chicago area.
