LANSING, MI – Many are asking why Denzel Duane Gibbons was not yet charged with murder since he faced a judge on Thursday August 8th, 2019 for arraignment on several other charges.
Denzel Gibbons, 19-years-old, of Lansing, was being held as a person of interest in the shooting incident that took place on Monday August 5th on Pine Street in Lansing. Lansing police were called to the area of North Pine and West Genesee streets about 7:15 p.m. Monday and found 17-year-old Taijion Grant dead at the scene after he had been shot to death.
Two other people were also shot when gunfire erupted. A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man are recovering from their injuries.
Denzel Gibbons has been formally charged with:
Count 1: Assault with intent to Murder
Count 2: Weapons – Dangerous Weapons – Carrying with Unlawful Intent
Count 3: Weapons – Carrying Concealed
Count 4: Assault with a Dangerous Weapon – Felonious Assault
Count 5: Weapons – Felony Firearms
Count 6: Weapons – Felony Firearms
Count 7: Weapons – Felony Firearms
