PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies on Saturday August 10th, at about 11:30PM, responded to Ridgemont Street on the report of an Armed Robbery.
Upon their arrival, Deputies spoke with the 29-year-old woman. She told the officers that she was not injured during the incident. After that, she gave the officers details of the crime that she had just been the victim of.
As the woman was getting out of her vehicle, a man approached her where he then pointed a handgun at her head. The suspect said to the victim “give me your purse or I will kill you.” The victim surrendered her purse and her personal belongings to the suspect. The suspect then fled on foot through the apartment complex. The victim then ran to her apartment where she had her boyfriend call 9-1-1 for help.
More officers arrived on scene where they secured a perimeter. An OCSO K-9 Unit was requested. The K-9 Unit tracked the suspect to the 150 block of Ridgemont Street. Deputies located a specific address where they believed that the suspect may be hiding. Deputies contacted the resident of that location. The resident gave Deputies consent to enter her apartment.
The 26-year-old suspect was located inside an upstairs bedroom and was taken into custody. The resident also gave Deputies consent to search her apartment for the items taken during the robbery. Deputies located the victim’s purse and its contents inside the bedroom, along with the victim’s cell phone. The handgun used in the robbery was also located inside the apartment.
An Evidence Technician arrived and processed the scene. Items recovered were collected as evidence and were placed into property. Detectives were notified. The suspect was transported to the Pontiac Substation to speak with Detectives. He was later lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending issuance of criminal charges.
