On Wednesday, August 13, 2019, officers from Fourth Precinct attempt to conduct a traffic stop on a Black Honda Pilot occupied by a suspect wanted in connection with the carjacking of an off duty Harper Wood’s officer. As the officers approached, the driver of the vehicle fled, resulting in a short pursuit.
During the pursuit, the passenger produced a weapon and fired multiple shots at the officer’s vehicle. The officers did not exchange gunfire however, the suspects fled from the officers. A photo and name of the shooting suspect was released to media. A short time later, the suspect was located and arrested in the 2500 block of Norman. The second suspect (driver) is still at large.
Detroit Police needs assistance in locating the second suspect. The second suspect has been identified as Raymond Stewart, Hispanic male, 41-years old, 5’10”, and heavy build.
Investigators also believes Raymond Stewart is connected to a carjacking incident that occurred on August 2, 2019 in the 2300 block of Gratiot. Allegedly, Raymond accompanied by another male suspect, approached two male victims (51 and 63) as they were sitting in white Chevy Yukon in the parking lot of a local business and robbed them at gunpoint. A third suspect, driving a black Ford Fusion pulled in front of the victims vehicle, never exiting his vehicle.
After the incident, Raymond entered the victim’s vehicle and fled, while the second suspect entered the black Ford Fusion and fled the location. No injuries reported. Through investigation, investigators were able to identify the second suspect. Information pertaining to the second suspect is listed below:
Suspect #1 Raymond Stewart, 41-year old Hispanic male, heavy build. At the time of this incident he was wearing a black shirt with “Hustle” written on it in white letters,armed.
Suspect # 2 Keith Walls, 31-year old white male. At the time of this incident he was wearing a tan mask, blue hat, white shirt with black and red graphics, black pants, and black and white shoes, armed.
