DETROIT, MI – At 3:15AM on Sunday August 18th, 2019, Detroit Police along with EMS were dispatched to a report of a shooting near Stansbury and Grove avenues on the west side of the city.
Police and medics responded to the 16700 block of Stansbury and found a 26-year old man had been fatally shot at a block party.
A 26-year-old man who is considered to be the suspect and victim got into a verbal altercation with a 29-year man. The 26-year-old pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting the 29-year-old man in the leg. A third person, an unknown man, returned fire shooting the 26-year-old in the back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
One woman on social media, who was there at the time of the shooting, stated that the image of the 26 yr-old who was shot and killed keeps flashing through her mind because he collapsed and died right next to her car.
The 29-year-old was privately transported to the hospital. His condition is listed as stable at this time.
