Livonia Man Arrested after RING Neighborhood Watch Alert Video is posted to Social Media

LIVONIA, MI – A Livonia man was arrested within hours of a neighborhood watch alert with video was  posted to social media.

Livonia Police have arrested Jeffrey Couch, 60-years-old, of Livonia, in relation to a string of recent attempted car break-ins in northeast Livonia.

His arrest is another example of the successful partnership between Livonia Police, the RING Neighborhood Watch Program and Livonia citizens. Couch was arrested on August 16th, 2019 without incident within five hours of a RING Neighborhood Watch alert.

At 6:00 a.m. a member of Livonia’s RING Neighborhood Watch posted a video recording which allegedly shows Couch rummaging through the bed of a pickup truck parked in a driveway at 2:40 a.m. The camera also captured the suspect riding away on a bicycle. Couch was recognized immediately by Livonia Detectives who have had numerous prior contacts with him. He was arrested at approximately 10:30 a.m. while bicycling through the neighborhood and was still wearing the same clothes that can be seen on the video.

Couch was arraigned on two misdemeanor counts of Attempted Larceny from A Motor Vehicle in the 16th District Court. Couch is due back in court for a pre-trail conference on September 4th, 2019.
