PONTIAC, MI – On Monday August 20th, 2019, at about 5:28PM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the 1200 block of Galloway Circle on the report of a 66-year-old man who was dead at the scene who had a gunshot wound to his head.
Upon arrival, Deputies met with the victim’s son who advised them that his father’s employer had called him because his father had failed to show up for work that afternoon. The son then drove over to his father’s residence and found him dead on the living room floor.
Deputies entered the home and found the victim lying on his back in a large pool of blood. He had an obvious bullet wound to his forehead. The victim was clearly deceased and beyond help. The victim had a handgun secured in a holster and fastened to his waist. Deputies cleared the residence and found no one else inside of the home. Deputies noticed that the home appeared to have been ransacked with drawers pulled opened throughout the house and the bed mattresses turned over.
Deputies canvassed the neighborhood and located a neighbor who had contacted the manager of the mobile home community to report that he had heard two gunshots the previous night around 11:00PM. They believed that the gunshots had been nearby or within the mobile home park.
Deputies secured the residence for Detectives. Detectives and the OCSO Forensic Lab responded to the scene. A Forensic Crime Lab Specialist processed the scene. An Investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled.
The incident remains under investigation. This is the 6th homicide this year in Pontiac. There were 14 homicides last year at the same point in time.
