Note: On August 27th, at 10:15AM, MI Headlines have received a telephone call from the family of Giovanni Smith that the information concerning the 16-year-old girl was potentially incorrect. The caller stated that the girl was a friend and not a sister to Smith. We contacted the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office concerning this and received clarification from them. The press release that was issued by their office was in fact incorrect and that has now been addressed. We have also removed the age of the female because there have been to many questions concerning that. The focus should be on Gio Smith and the loss of his life.
We wish extend to the Smith family our condolences and thank them for reaching out to us to ensure that the information that we had was corrected and reflected as needed.
