Roseville Judge Steenland found Dead inside of Home

ROSEVILLE, MI – Former Roseville Judge Catherine Steenland was found dead inside of her home this evening Thursday, September 12th, 2019.

Multiple sources are telling MI Headlines that Judge Steenland was found dead inside of her home located on Rockport Street in Roseville. We are being told that she took her own life.

She was found at about 7:00PM this evening.  The Macomb County Medical Examiner has taken custody of her body.

When authorities were asked about the incident that was taking place on Rockport Street they offered no comment.

Judge Steenland went through a divorce in 2017. It was not long after that other troubles followed her. Legal proceedings took place in reference to the hit and run case that had her ultimately step down from the bench and retire.

She pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges in connection with the hit and run crash. She was sentenced to one year of probation and a 90-day suspended sentence.

In June of this year Judge Steenland submitted the following: “Please be advised that I am retiring from my judicial seat with the 39th District Court effective July 19, 2019.” She copied the court’s chief judge, the Michigan Secretary of State and the governor.

In a statement Roseville Police confirmed the death of former Roseville Judge Catherine Steenland. “At this time, we will not be releasing any further information”.
