Michigan State Police Continue to Investigate Jackson Man facing Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges

JACKSON, MI – Michigan State Police are continuing their investigation of William Akin who is facing new amended charges to Criminal Sexual Conduct.

William Akin allegedly used dating websites and apps to meet people and then sexually assault and imprison them. The 37-year-old man was arrested on June 26th, 2019. At that time Akin was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of malicious use of telecommunications services and two counts of unlawful imprisonment.

Akin’s charges have been amended to include 12 felony counts and one misdemeanor count against 6 separate victims. Michigan State Police believe that more victims are out there that have yet to come forward. They are pleading with the public to please come forward if you have been a possible victim of William Akin.

Akin allegedly found victims on Plenty of Fish, Tagged and other dating websites and cellphone apps. He would use his full name of William Akin as well as “Will” and an alias of “Will Smith” Michigan State Police said.
