CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – At approximately 11:00PM on Saturday September 28th, 2019, a person posted a short note on the app Neighbors that there had been a possible shooting on Stafford Street in Clinton Township.shooting investigation

They stated that they heard 6-7 loud bangs and that  police had swarmed the area. That person was correct. There was a shooting on Stafford Street that took place at about 10:45PM. A 26-year-old woman was shot in the face by a 26-year-old man who she was in a relationship with.

When officers arrived on scene, they encountered the suspect who was holding a long gun. The suspect dropped the gun without incident. He was immediately taken into custody.

Once officers were able to make entry into the home, they found the woman with a severe gunshot wound to the face. She was taken to Macomb McLaren Hospital where, MI Headlines has confirmed, that she passed away at approximately 9:45PM Sunday evening.

We, like other media, had reported the woman’s death prematurely based on what was thought to be credible sources. We apologize to her family and friends for making that mistake and wanted to ensure that the record was set straight about that detail of this tragic situation.

Prior to his arrest, and even there after, the suspect was described as acting erratic. It is unknown at this time if drugs and or alcohol were factors to the man’s behavior. The suspect is lodged in the Macomb County Jail and is expected to face murder charges this week.

We are not releasing the victims name at this time because the woman’s family needs to make personal notifications to others.
