Livonia Police Arrest Brothers for Burglary at Church Hill High School [Video]

LIVONIA, MI -Livonia Police have arrested brothers Jessus Garcia, age 24 and Fernando Garcia, age 19 of Livonia in connection to the burglary of a storage facility at Churchill High School located at 8900 Newburgh.

On October 6, 2019 at approximately 11:50 p.m., they were captured on the schools security cameras breaking into a storage shed and stealing a John Deere Gator motorized cart, landscaping equipment and tools. Investigators asked for help from our citizen partners in the community by posting the surveillance video on the department’s social media platform. This resulted in a citizen coming forward and identifying the suspects.

On October 17, 2019 the Garcia brothers were arrested without incident on a three count felony warrant by officers of the Livonia Police Department Special Operations Unit. Investigators then recovered the stolen Gator and other stolen equipment from a densely wooded area near Warren Road and I 275 where it had been concealed after the burglary.

The defendants were arraigned on October 18, 2019 in the 16th District Court of Livonia on felony charges of Breaking and Entering, Larceny and Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property. Jessus’s bond was set in the amount of $50,000/10% and Fernando’s bond was set in the amount of $20,000/10%. Both are scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference on October 31, 2019.
