Murder Victim Identified in Roseville Tavern Shooting

ROSEVILLE, MI – The 37-year-old man who was shot and killed inside of a restroom at Dooleys Tavern in Roseville early Sunday morning has been identified on social media as that of Johnny Owczarski.

Johnny Oczarski, of Harrison Township, and a 21-year-old man, of Clinton Township, got into a verbal argument inside of a restroom at the bar. The argument escalated and the suspect produced a weapon where he shot and killed Oczarski. It is currently unknown what the two were arguing about.

At 12:40AM on Sunday October 20th, 2019, Roseville Police officers were dispatched to 32500 Gratiot on a report that someone had been shot in the bathroom at Dooleys Tavern. Officers arrived at the location to find Johnny Oczarski had been fatally shot inside of a restroom inside of the business during an argument.

After the shooting, the suspect was detained at gunpoint by another patron until police arrived to take him into custody.

The suspect will be arranged on Monday, October 21st. Per department policy, they will not release any further information until after his arrangement.

Johnny Oczarski was a Journeyman at Schena Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc.   He leaves behind a young family.

The mother to his daughter posted on Facebook “I never thought in a million years I would have to tell my 7 year old baby girl her fathers life was taken by a reckless 21 year old kid who had no business having a gun. I can’t explain in words what an amazing loving father you were. Your presence always lightened up the room no matter what, even when you were an asshole?You will be deeply missed. You will always be by our side, we love you Johnny o. Your daughter will never forget about you and I promise you that. Rest In Peace baby.
