Two Female Michigan Department of Corrections Officers found Dead inside Home In Grand Traverse County

PARADISE TOWNSHIP, MI – Two female Michigan Department of Corrections Officers were found dead in a home in Grand Traverse County on Friday October 25th, 2019.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of two individuals at a residence near Kingsley. At this time there is no reason to believe that there is a threat to the public.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office has preliminarily identified the two individuals in yesterday’s death investigation on Walton Road in Paradise Township. Positive identification is still pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office in Kalamazoo.

The individuals are believed to be Tara Kelley, 53-years-old, and Angelina Winn, 49-years-old, both Michigan Department of Corrections employees at the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee.  Tara Kelley had worked for MDOC for 19 years and Angelina Winn for 20 years.

Tara Kelley had been with the Michigan Department of Corrections since 2000, starting at the Saginaw Correctional Facility and then transferred to the Pugsley Correctional Facility. She remained there until it was closed then transferred to Oaks Correctional Facility she worked as a corrections officer.

The investigation into the cause of the deaths continues, pending the results of the autopsies and the completion of the Michigan State Police Crime Lab report.
