PONTIAC, MI – On Sunday November 3rd, 2019, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Cherry Hill Drive on a reported shooting that had just occurred.
The caller, a 23-year-old woman, who stated that the father of her child, a 23-year-old man, had been strangling her and striking her in the face. She advised that she had shot him in the abdomen. She indicated that he was now lying on the floor and was still breathing.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the woman, identified as Solana Cervantes, 23-years-old, of Pontiac, who was standing outside of the residence. She was subsequently detained for further investigation.
Deputies entered the residence where they found the victim lying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The victim was unconscious but breathing. Paramedics from the Waterford Township Fire Department and from Star EMS arrived and began rendering aid to the victim. The victim was transported to McLaren-Oakland Hospital where he died to his injury.
Detectives and the OCSO Forensic Science Lab were notified and responded to the scene. Solana Cervantes was transported to the substation to be interviewed by Detectives and then was lodged OCJ.
A 3-year-old child was found to be in the home and was turned over to relatives at the scene. The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified of the death. The incident remains under investigation. The case will be presented to the OC Prosecutor Tuesday morning.
