STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – On Friday November 8th, 2019, a Shelby Township man was struck by a vehicle and killed near Hall Road and Schoenherr.
At about 10:15 p.m, Sterling Heights Police were in the area of Hall Road and Schoenherr when they came across the scene of a pedestrian vs vehicle accident that had just occurred near the crosswalk on east bound Hall Road. Fire/Rescue were called to assist at the scene. The 49-year-old Shelby Township man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The initial investigation revealed that a white Nissan had struck the pedestrian and then fled the scene going east bound on Hall Road. A witness to the accident was able to follow the vehicle and was able to obtain the license plate number. A black Range Rover may have also been involved in the accident. That vehicle was also located and was processed for evidence.
Chesterfield Police were able to locate the Nissan and its driver shortly after the accident. The 50-year-old Chesterfield Township man is cooperating with the investigation.
At this time it does not appear that drugs nor alcohol were factors in the accident. The circumstances leading up to the accident and the actions of the victim are still under investigation.
