58 yr old Monroe County Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI – A single vehicle fatal traffic crash occurred on Vivian Road, near Fairway Street, in Frenchtown Township at approximately 9:13AM on Monday, November 18th, 2019.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 58-year-old man from Monroe was driving a black 2009 GMC pick-up truck southbound on Vivian Road when for unknown reasons the vehicle traveled off the roadway. Upon leaving the roadway, the GMC pick-up struck a mailbox, a fire hydrant and a small light post before impacting a tree. The vehicle came to rest in the front yard of a residence on the west side of Vivian Rd.

First responders provided treatment to the victim, who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Excessive speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The victim’s name is being withheld, pending notification to next of kin.

Monroe Community Ambulance and the Frenchtown Fire Department assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Sheriffs Alec Preadmore, Paul Galloro and Jon Cregar of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division along with Deputy Mickeal Depew of the Uniform Services Division.
