FLINT, MI – A Flint man has been found guilty of murder for the shooting death of another man at a Flint party store in 2016.
Roger Dewayne Williams, 40-years-old, was convicted of second degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and two counts of felony firearm related to a shooting incident that occurred outside the Liquor Plus Mini Mart on Martin Luther King Avenue.
Police were dispatched to Liquor Plus at around 12:30 AM on August 5, 2016 in response to reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found 27-year-old Corandis Jenkins dead in the parking lot having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Roger Williams was subsequently identified as the shooter and later arrested.
“This was just one of several shootings that occurred the summer of 2016 at Liquor Plus and part of an overall pattern of criminal activity at that location which allowed us to obtain a padlocking of that store,” said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton.
“Today’s verdict was another step in the long march against violence in that area and a continuation of our efforts to make the neighborhood safer for nearby residents,” he said.
Roger Williams will be sentenced on February 24th.
