Brother Shot while Fighting Off Home Invasion Suspects in Monroe County

EXETER TOWNSHIP, MI – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a home invasion and attempted homicide, which occurred in the 4600 block of Colf Road in Exeter Township. On Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 at 4:40am, Monroe County Central Dispatch received a call from a 26-year-old woman stating two unknown male suspects forcefully entered into her home. Home Invasion

Both suspects were armed with handguns wearing dark clothing, and wearing masks over their faces to conceal their identity. Once inside of the residence, the woman’s 24-year-old brother began to fight with one of the suspects.

During the scuffle, one of the unknown suspects shot the 24 year old brother in the right side of his body with an unknown make and model caliber handgun. After the shooting occurred, the suspects fled from the residence.

Monroe County Sheriff Deputies and Michigan State Police Troopers responded to the scene and began an investigation. A K-9 track was conducted; however, ended several homes to the east of the residence.

The 24-year-old man was transported from the scene by Monroe Community Ambulance to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The Michigan State Police, Monroe Community Ambulance and the Exeter Fire Department assisted at the scene. This case remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-240-7530.
