LIVONIA, MI – A 19-year-old Detroit Man has been arrested after he allegedly dragged a woman through a parking lot when he stole a cell phone that she was attempting to sell.
Livonia Police have arrested William Stinson, 19-years-old, of Detroit, on a multi-count Felony Warrant charging him with Unarmed Robbery, Felonious Assault, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder and Larceny from Person.
On December 23, 2019 a woman listed a phone for sale on the App “Let Go”. She agreed to meet a potential “buyer” in the parking lot of Target located at 29451 Plymouth Road. She approached a vehicle being driven by the “buyer” that was also occupied by two other male subjects to conduct the sale. It is alleged that as she was showing the “buyer” the phone he grabbed it from her hand. The victim reached in the window and tried to take the phone back. The suspect sped away dragging the victim several feet before she was run over by the car as she fell to the ground. The victim sustained injuries to her left hand and left leg. She was treated and released at the scene.
Similar crimes were reported to the Inkster Police Department on December 22, 2019 and the Westland Police Department on January 3, 2020 by other users of the “Let-Go” App. Investigators were able to identify Stinson as a person of interest in the Livonia and Westland cases.
On January 10, 2020 Livonia Detectives obtained an Arrest Warrant for Stinson who was in custody at the Wayne County Jail where he was being held on unrelated charges.
Stinson is scheduled to appear in the 3rd Circuit Court for arraignment on Information on January 30, 2020.
