Man Dies From Injuries in St. Clair County Head-on Crash with Tri-Hospital EMS Ambulance


EAST CHINA TOWNSHIP, MI – The driver of a vehicle that crashed head-on into a Tri-Hospital EMS ambulance has died from injuries sustained in the crash.FATAL-ACCIDENT

According to accident investigators from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old John Lynch of Marine City died early yesterday afternoon at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit.

Video downloaded from the ambulance showed that Lynch was driving northbound on River Road near Hathaway Road in East China Township shortly before 5:00 a.m. John Lynch’s vehicle, a 2003 GMC Envoy can be seen crossing the centerline of the road and striking the ambulance, which was southbound.

There were three people in the ambulance; the driver, a 33-year-old man from Macomb Township, a 24-year-old female paramedic who was in the jump seat in the rear of the unit and a 67-year-old Port Huron Township woman who was being transported. The EMS workers sustained minor injuries. The woman being transported told deputies that she was not injured in the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation.

Obituary for John Patrick Lynch

John Patrick Lynch, age 33, of Marine City, passed away unexpectedly as a result of an automobile accident on January 27, 2020.

Born on June 2, 1986 in Mount Clemens, John grew up in Cottrellville Township and married Amanda Achatz of Marine City on August 16, 2008. For the past 15 years he was employed at Riverside Tank and Manufacturing in St. Clair where he worked his way up to the front shop foreman position.John Patrick Lynch

John loved being outdoors for all activities, especially camping and riding his four-wheeler. He also enjoyed woodworking and entertaining in his “Man Cave.”

John was one of the kindest loving souls you would ever meet. Spending time with family and friends was always a top priority. John was the best father and loving husband a man could be.

He is survived by his wife; Amanda, daughters; Savanna and Adalyn Lynch, parents; Aaron Lynch, Deborah (John) Clouse, brothers; Robert (Natasha) Lynch, Michael Lynch, Patrick Lynch, grandmother; Shirley Lynch, nephews; Connor and Cameron Lynch, nieces; Isabelle Gorinski, Lily and Olivia Giem, mother in law; Dawn (Darrell) Campbell, father in law; Joseph Achatz, sister in law; Amberly (Jason) Giem, and his beloved dog Charlie. As well as, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents John J. Lynch, Louis and Edith Timek.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 1, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
