LIVONIA, MI – Livonia Police have arrested Gary Loyer, 35-years-old, of Inkster and Nate Blalock, 25-years-old, of Detroit, on a multi-count Felony Warrant charging them with Armed Robbery and Carjacking.
It is alleged that on the afternoon of January 26, 2020 shortly after arriving at her home in a minivan in the area of Devon Aire Park a Livonia woman was confronted in her garage by Loyer and Blalock who had been cruising the subdivision. Loyer produced a handgun and they demanded the woman’s money, her keys and began loading a generator and snow blower from the garage into the victim’s minivan.
The woman’s keys were already inside her house and Loyer attempted to force her into the residence at gunpoint to retrieve them. Upon reaching the front door she began pounding on the door while yelling for her son to call 911. This scared off the would-be robbers who ran back to a Burgundy Taurus and fled the area. The Livonia Police Department Crime Scene Unit (CSU) recovered evidence at the scene that led to the identification of the suspects.
On January 30, 2020 officers of the Livonia Police Department Intelligence Bureau were able to locate Blalock in the City of Wyandotte in the Burgundy Taurus which had been reported stolen out of Monroe two weeks prior. Blalock was arrested without incident. Later that afternoon Livonia Intelligence Bureau officers assisted by the United States Marshal’s Service Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team (DFAT) located Loyer in the City of Detroit. Loyer was arrested without incident. Officer’s recovered an unregistered 9mm handgun from his pocket.
Loyer and Blalock were arraigned on January 31, 2020 in the 16th District Court and they were ordered to be held without bond. They are both scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference on February 13, 2020 at 9 a.m. Loyer is also expected to face federal charges related to the handgun recovered from his person.
