DETROIT, MI – An unknown drive-by gunman shot two men Saturday afternoon near Hartwell Avenue and Chalfonte Street.
On Saturday February 1st, 2020, at approximately 5:45 p.m., in the area of Hartwell and Chalfonte, two men, ages 28 and 29, were walking when a black Chevy Impala pulled up and an unknown suspect fired shots. Both victims were hit with the gunfire.
A witness to the shooting states that the two men were not walking but were a silver Cadillac that was being driven at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the Cadillac lost control and hit a light pole because they were being pursued by the driver of the black Impala. Three individuals jumped out of the wrecked vehicle and began to run from the scene. That is when the driver of the black Impala immediately pulled up and started shooting at them. He was able to fire off anywhere from 15 to 20 rounds at the victims.
The two victims were found shot in an alley in the 15000 block of Hartwell.
Medics transported the two men to a local hospital. They were listed in temp-serious condition. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.
The witness also challenged the accounting of the press release concerning the conditions of the two victims. They stated that one of the victims had been shot in the chest. Paramedics were working very hard to save that persons life as the ambulance sped away headed towards the hospital.
