Man and Family Dog Shot and Killed on LeMay Street

DETROIT, MI – Detroit Police were called to a residence in the 2500 block of LeMay Street early Monday morning after a man was found shot inside of his home. The home is located just north of Vernor Hwy on Detroit’s east side.

On Monday February 3rd, 2020, at approximately 1:38 a.m., a relative who was inside of the home at the time of the shooting heard the gunfire. They found the 35-year-old man shot and killed but they also found their dog had also been hit by gunfire. The dog had chased after the gunman and was shot and killed.

The victim has been identified as Donny Harpo. We were notified that Donny Harpo is a name that he used for his Facebook profile and is not his actual legal name. However, many on social media have been referring to that identity.

There were also several children inside of the house at the time of the shooting.  None of them were injured.

Currently there is no information about possible suspects. Police are still gathering information and evidence.
