SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI – On Wednesday February 5th, 2020, at approximately 12:55a.m., Shelby Township Police received a 911 call from a residence off of 24 Mile Rd, west of Shelby.
The caller was reporting that her brothers ex-girlfriend, Lilly Xiong, had broken into their house and was armed with a gun. The caller’s father, who was also in the home at the time of the incident, found the woman in the basement of the home and confronted her.
During the confrontation the suspect reportedly fired a round from the rifle at the father. Fortunately he was not hit and was able to wrestle the woman to the ground.
Officers arrived and were able to take Lilly Xiong into custody. During the investigation, officers were able to determine that the suspect had poured lighter fluid onto the carpeting and other items in the basement before being confronted by the father.
The suspect has been lodged at the Macomb County jail. She has been charged with attempted murder, assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, home invasion, and attempted arson. She’s being held on a $200,000 bond and could get life in prison if convicted.
