Man Charged in Ionia County Stabbing Incident

HUBBARDSTON, MI – On February 2nd, 2020, at approximately 3:40am, Ionia County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Pearl Street in the Village of Hubbardston on the report of a Home Invasion resulting in the stabbing of two individuals in the home. An Investigation at the scene determined that a male intruder had entered into the home and was caught and confronted by two people staying at the home. The intruder attacked these two people and used a knife to stab and slash causing serious injuries to one victim, and minor injuries to another. The suspect then fled the residence in an unknown direction.

On February 7th, 2020, Ionia County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a suspect in this case and lodged him at the Ionia County Jail.

The suspect in this case is being identified as Carl Lee Harbenski, 28-years-old, of Pewamo Michigan. Carl Harbenski was arraigned on Monday February 10th on Home Invasion 1st Degree, Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault, and Attempted Home Invasion 1st Degree.

Harbenski’s bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety.
