Off Duty Officer Discovers Hidden Cameras in Tanning Salon Rooms [Updated]

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI – An off duty police officer discovered hidden cameras in a tanning salon.Chili Peppers Tanning Salon

The off duty officer was at a tanning salon in the area of 25 Mile Rd and Van Dyke on Friday evening, February 14th, 2020, when he located a hidden camera in his room. Allegedly, upon further search, cameras were discovered in every room.

The officer notified Shelby Township Police. Detectives arrived at the business to investigate further. The business is located in the 55000 block of Van Dyke Ave in Shelby Township.

Shelby Township Police issued a statement at approximately 11:56 PM that stated:

On 02/14/20 at approximately 7:40PM, our officers were dispatched to Chili Peppers Tanning Salon, located at 55172 Van Dyke. An off duty police officer found what appeared to be a small camera hidden in the wall of one of the tanning rooms. An investigation into the matter is underway.

“This investigation is very fresh. No further statements or information will be made available until next week. If you have specific info that may be of help, please call the station and speak with a shift commander. Thanks.”
