ST. JOSEPH, MI – A 55-year-old woman who was reported missing from Chicago may have been located in the waters of Lake Michigan near St. Joseph.

On February 19th, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., Officers from the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety were dispatched to Tiscornia Beach for the report of a body floating in Lake Michigan. The deceased was an Asian female approximately 55 years of age wearing a dark green jacket and sweatpants.

The deceased female matches the description of a missing person out of Chicago, Illinois.

On Thursday, February 20, 2020 an autopsy was conducted at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine. A positive identification of the body will be completed forensically through dental records and DNA at a later date. There was no trauma to the body of the deceased.

The name of the deceased will be released after a positive identification is made.

Assisting with the investigation are Berrien County Sheriff Department, Medic 1, Benton Township Police Department, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine Medical Examiner and Chicago Police Department.
