DETROIT, MI -Detroit Police responded to a call concerning an armed dispute at about 8:15pm. They originally responded to 3700 Joy Road. The incident was then reported to be in the 3300 block of Joy Road.
The shooting took place at about 8:15PM on February 20th, 2020 in the 3300 block of Joy Road on the west side of the city.
Upon arrival, officers found two people who had been shot. A 31-year-old and a 34-year-old man had been hit by gunfire. The 34-year-old was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other has been transported to a local area hospital. Their condition was listed as being critical at last check.
Officers are looking for a black Cadillac Escalade Pickup that they believe was involved in the incident. Both individuals were shot with a handgun. Witnesses told police that the Escalade was last seen fleeing north on Dexter. This appears to be an armed robbery of a suspected illegal marijuana dispensary.
Detroit Police are looking for a total of three suspects. One suspect is described as a black male wearing a ball cap, dark jeans, wind breaker, in his early 20’s. He fled east bound on Joy Road.
MI Headlines believes that Detroit Police know who they are looking for with one suspect. It is believed that this individual resides in Hamtramck and has no issues with engaging police with gunfire. He has been known to shoot at police in the past.
Officers are collecting evidence that was discovered near the crime scene.
At 12:45AM homicide technicians were being called to the scene to process for evidence.
