State Income Tax Filing Deadline Moved to July 15th

LANSING, MI – Keeping to her word when Gov. Whitner stated during a treasurytownhall meeting on Thursday evening that she would have an answer concerning aligning the state filing date deadline with the one that had been issued for the federal tax filing date of July 15th, the governor issued an Executive Order to move the date.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order Friday moving the state income tax filing deadline to July 15th 2020.

Effective immediately, state of Michigan income tax returns and payments will now be due before midnight on July 15th, 2020.

“Michiganders shouldn’t have to worry about filing their income taxes in the midst of a global pandemic,”Whitmer said. “This executive order provides immediate income tax assistance to people as they continue to stay home and stay safe during this crisis. I will continue working around the clock to help our families and businesses get through this time.”
