2 Arrested in Lapeer for Unarmed Robbery after taking Play Station during Argument

LAPEER, MI – On Tuesday March 31st, 2020, at 1:37 AM, Lapeer County 911 dispatched Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies to an assault that occurred at a residence on Pennington Drive in Lapeer. The suspects were known to the caller. The caller was unaware of the suspects’ current whereabouts.

It was determined that four adult individuals were at the residence. Activity at the residence was playing video games and smoking marijuana. Kristofor Bowers, 30-years-old, of Lapeer and Bryan Verran, 25-years-old, of Metamora, became involved in a dispute with a 23-year-old man from Lapeer. The dispute escalated and it is alleged that Bowers and Verran physically assaulted the 23-year-old man.

Additional, Bowers and Verran were alleged to have assaulted a 33-year-old woman from Lapeer who is the home owner. Bowers and Verran left the residence with the Play Station 4 video game. Deputies intercepted their vehicle within the immediate area and conducted a traffic stop. Bowers and Verran were taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Lapeer County Jail.

The 23-year-old man from Lapeer sought medical attention at McLaren in Lapeer for injuries sustained. The 33-year-old woman had visible injuries that did not require medical attention.

Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by Officers with the City of Lapeer Police Department.

On Tuesday March 31st, 2020, the investigation was presented to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office regarding formal criminal charges. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tom Sparrow authorized numerous criminal charges against both Bowers and Verran. Bowers and Verran were arraigned during the late afternoon within the 71-A District Court of Lapeer.

2) Assault less then murder
3) Larceny in a building
4) Assault and Battery
5) Violation of Executive Order
6) Operating While Intoxicated 2nd offense
Bond was set at $25,000 (cash or surety) for Bowers. Bowers remains at the Lapeer County Jail pending posting bond. Next scheduled court date within the 71-A District Court of Lapeer is April 10th.
