DETROIT, MI – A large group of young people gathered in the 11700 block of Chalmers Thursday evening, April 2nd, 2020, to remember a friend, East side BabyRay, who had died.  Sadly, the young man died from injuries sustained in a car accident.

The gathering took place in the face of both national and state orders to stay at home so as to not spread COVID-19.

The numbers for those infected with COVID-19 continue to climb at an alarming rate in and around the Detroit metro area. Too many are ignoring the orders set forth for everyone to Stay Home/Stay Safe.  Until those who refuse to comply with those orders, no matter what the situation or problem is, numbers of infected people will continue to skyrocket.

Crowds are banned from gathering at this time until further notice.

Residents of Flint were given a wake up call when a curfew went into effect this evening for the first time since the health crisis slammed into the United States. Many Flint residents were also refusing to comply with the emergency orders. Flint is the first city in the state of Michigan to enact a curfew.

The curfew went into effect Thursday evening running from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Other cities need to take notice and follow suit.

Those in violation of the Stay Home/Stay Safe order and other executive orders could face fines of up to $1,000 and businesses could see licensing penalties, according to a new emergency order from the director of the state health department. The fine was doubled from $500 to $1000 with the new emergency order.

At this time there are a total of 10,791 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the State of Michigan. There have been a total of 417 deaths. Hospitals in southeast Michigan are at capacity. TCF Center in downtown Detroit is being transformed into a field hospital.

Everyone is responsible for compliance. Detroit Police stepped in and dispersed the crowd.
