PONTIAC, MI – A 47-year-old Pontiac man was killed in a fatal two vehicle crash on Monday April 6th, 2020, when he failed to stop at an intersection and hit a Chevrolet Suburban broadside.
At 6:42PM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Osmun Street on the report of an injury accident.
Upon their arrival, Deputies located the two vehicles involved that were still in the roadway and each vehicle was occupied by one person. The driver of of one of the vehicles was trapped inside the wreckage his vehicle. Firefighters extricated him from his vehicle. He was transported to the Emergency Room at McLaren-Oakland Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The operator of the second vehicle, a 43-year-old man, of Pontiac, sustained an ankle injury and refused medical treatment.
Deputies spoke with the driver of the second vehicle who stated he was traveling in his 2004 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. when he saw a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria traveling eastbound on Osmun Street. The driver of the Crown Victoria failed to yield or stop at the intersection. The Crown Victoria entered the intersection, striking the driver’s side of his Chevrolet Suburban. Deputies requested the assistance of the OCSO Crash Investigations Unit.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified of the death. The Medical Examiner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy.
