BATTLE CREEK, MI – A person of interest, who was already locked up on unrelated charges, has been identified in the double murder stabbing deaths of two men Sunday afternoon.

Battle Creek Police have identified a person of interest in the double homicide at Silver Star Apartments.

Fred Bissel, 62-years-old and Jason Dush, 41-years-old, were found dead at the complex at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon by a resident at the  Silver Star apartment complex. Police found signs of a struggle in the apartment.

While the cause of death is still pending, it appears both men were stabbed; police found multiple knives during the investigation.

Battle Creek Police have identified a person of interest. This individual was an acquaintance of both victims. During the investigation, police were able to review video footage of the suspect. They also spoke with witnesses to make the determination and identification of the suspect. The person of interest already was in custody, on unrelated charges, in another jurisdiction.

This is the only person of interest in this case, and police do not believe there are additional threats to the community. Police do not know the motive in this case at this time.

Police continue to investigate, and anticipate submitting charges to the Calhoun County Prosecutor. No further information will be released at this time.
